The measures already implemented and those planned aim to digitally strengthen and modernize the justice system. Electronic service of criminal procedure documents via the citizen’s inbox on gov.gr has freed police station staff, while the ability to obtain a criminal record extract through Citizens’ Service Centres (KEP) has simplified the process for citizens. Videoconference services in courts and prisons facilitate hearings, and real time updates on court lists and exhibits are part of the “e justice” framework. At the same time, the integrated case management systems for administrative, civil, and criminal justice (OSDDY AD, OSDDY CR), the court‐proceedings record keeping system, and the National Criminal Record information system have all been upgraded. These initiatives were selected according to the evaluation methodology of the Digital Transformation Handbook, ensuring the effective attainment of the sector’s objectives.
Digitization is still in its early stages, with a significant lag compared to European standards.
The coexistence of digital and analogue processes prevents the full digital transformation of the justice system.
Lack of interoperability between information systems makes digital communication impossible among judges, lawyers, and court staff.
